Contemporary Voices - Music for Strings and Percussion at the Jamestown Arts Center

Influenced by the folk music of Turkey, Iraq, Armenia and Hungary, three composers from the early 1900s to present, let folk rhythms and political unrest drive their inspiration.  In contrast, Providence composer Kirsten Volness paints a serene metaphorical seascape in her work for violin, cello and vibraphone that will be premiered in Jamestown.

Join us to hear the unique sounds of percussion and strings, to experience a world premiere and to hear firsthand from a living composer about her work.
