Beethoven with Burgundy

  • Rough Point 680 Bellevue Ave Newport, RI 02840 (map)

What was going through Ludwig's head when he wrote his glorious Op. 18 No. 1 String Quartet? How could he have imagined the intricate conversation between voices throughout the piece? Join the Newport Strong Project in the historic Great Hall at Rough Point and get the answers to this and other burning questions. Then sit back with your favorite drink and enjoy our performance of this golden composition from the renowned master of the string quartet. You are guaranteed to appreciate this piece even more when you learn what drove Beethoven to write it and how his tortured emotions got translated into notes on the page. To complement Beethoven's work and to pay homage to Doris Duke, we will present Gershwin's Lullaby with its colorful harmonies and syncopated rhythms. Doors open at 5, concert begins at 5:30pm. Cash bar.

Tickets are $25 and can be reserved HERE. This event benefits the Newport String Project. Reservations required. For questions contact (401) 846.4152 x122 or
